The Golden Bears Rule the Bay 🐻

No surprises here - Cal are the dominant force across the board. Their 1V, 2V, 3V, 4V, and 5V crews are all heavily fancied, and when your fifth varsity boat is at 89% popularity, you know the program is deep - so deep your 5V is having to race your 6V!

Cal 1V is backed by 89.10% against Wisconsin and 82.88% against Temple. Two comfortable favourites, two expected wins. The points here will come from the margin of victory rather than the outcome.

Cal 2V (84.31%), Cal 3V (84.46%), and Cal 4V (74.17%) all carry heavy support in their opening races. Even Cal 5V opens at 89.19% in an intramural clash.

Stanford: The Other Powerhouse 🌲

If Cal own the water, Stanford own the predictions in every race they're not facing Cal.

Stanford 1V at 92.41% against OSU is the single most popular pick of the entire event. Their 2V (86.93%) and 3V (86.58%) follow suit. When Stanford meet Wisconsin later in the day, they're still heavily backed - 1V at 87.84%, 2V at 78.91%, 3V at 76.87%.

The Coin Toss Races 🪙

These are the races where the community is genuinely split - and where the biggest points swings will happen:

Race 23 (UCSD 1V vs OSU 1V) is the tightest call of the weekend at 50.69/49.31. If you're looking for leaderboard-shifting upsets, this is where they'll come from.

Race 8 (Cal 6V vs Santa Clara 2V) is delightfully chaotic - Cal's sixth boat against Santa Clara's second. Is the Cal depth enough, or does Santa Clara's higher-priority crew have the edge? The community is almost perfectly split.

The Underdogs 🐕

Every favourite creates an opportunity. Here are the crews that almost nobody picked - and the points bonanza waiting if they cause an upset:

  • OSU 1V vs Stanford 1V: 7.59% - Oregon State would need a miracle, but miracles are worth a LOT of points
  • Wisconsin 1V vs Cal 1V: 10.90% - the Badgers as 9/1 outsiders against the Bears
  • Cal 6V vs Cal 5V: 10.81% - backing the younger siblings in a Cal family feud
  • OSU 2V vs Stanford 2V: 13.07% - another Stanford steamroller expected
