What Happened
Going into the final day, Oars before Whores, jrjcm, and TMoneyhoughton were tied on 2,011 points. The California Classic's last six races, particularly Races 22–25 where the field was split, decided everything.
Oars before Whores nailed all four contested picks (Wisconsin 1V, OSU 1V, Cal 4V, OSU 2V), collecting 124 points from races where rivals scored zero. That turned a three-way tie into a 62-point victory.
jrjcm and TMoneyhoughton both suffered three consecutive zeros in Races 22–25. jrjcm fell from joint 1st to 5th; TMoneyhoughton from joint 1st to 4th. TMoneyhoughton's solo gamble on Wisconsin 2V in Race 24 — the boldest call of the series — backfired when Cal 4V won.
rehood was the quiet climber, matching the champion's picks in Races 23 and 25 to rise from 4th to 3rd. The only thing separating rehood from the title: two wrong picks across the entire series (Boat Race Women + Race 22), worth a combined 66 points.
samb123 and Patrick Tulloch — neither in yesterday's preview — broke into the final top 6 with strong California Classic performances. samb123's near-perfect card was let down only by UCSD 1V in Race 2 (31 points dropped).
